Licence-free equipment has specific limits
UK PMR446 equipment uses 446.0–446.2 MHz with a maximum 500 mW e.r.p. and an integral antenna. It is hand-portable equipment: fixed base stations, repeaters and use as part of an infrastructure network are excluded, and airborne use is not permitted. Compliant equipment used within the exemption conditions needs no individual Ofcom licence.
The permitted band does not mean every older handset offers every channel. Compare the actual frequencies and signalling settings rather than assuming that the same channel number on two models means the same setup. Analogue PMR446 and digital PMR446 also need the correct operating mode; dPMR and DMR are distinct digital protocols.
Read the PMR446 guide and UK licence decision guide. The equipment limits come from Ofcom IR 2030, PMR446 definition and Table 3.18.
Request the kit you need
Specify the exact model, quantity, condition, batteries, chargers and accessories in your enquiry. Model illustrations do not establish the contents or condition of an individual used offer. See condition labels and complete kit costs.
Payment is by BACS after you accept the written quotation. Warranty terms will be confirmed in your written quotation. International enquiries are assessed individually; UK licence exemption does not establish permission in another country.
