Batteries
A spare battery keeps a walkie talkie going through a long day or a late event, and a rotating set means a radio is never out of action waiting to charge. Lithium-ion packs last best kept out of extreme heat and not left fully flat.
Batteries are specific to each model, so match the pack to your radio. Browse our walkie talkies or all walkie talkie accessories.
Walkie talkie battery FAQs
How long do walkie talkie batteries last per charge?
Most PMR446 handsets cover a full working day on a healthy pack. Heavy transmitting shortens that, so busy event teams often rotate a spare set.
Can I use rechargeable AAs?
Some models accept them as a backup, many do not. Check your model — where supported it is a useful fallback but gives shorter runtime than the proper pack.
Why has my battery life dropped?
Lithium-ion capacity falls with cycles and heat. If a pack that once lasted a shift now dies by lunchtime, it has reached the end of its useful life.
Are batteries model-specific?
Yes. Contacts, capacity and physical fit differ between models, so match the pack to your exact radio.
