The PD795 Ex is an intrinsically safe analogue/DMR handheld with a 1.8-inch colour display and full keypad. It is the PD7 Ex radio family, using the specified BL1807-Ex battery and its own approved accessories. Select UHF or VHF hardware for the existing licensed radio system.

Choose the correct band and system

UHF 400-470 MHz and VHF 136-174 MHz are separate hardware versions. Match the channel frequencies, analogue signalling or DMR colour code, time slot and talkgroup to the existing system. The manufacturer specifies 1 W RF output for this model; transmit settings must remain within the applicable licence and equipment conditions.

Ex approval applies to the complete assembly

The reference ATEX marking is II 2G Ex ib IIC T4 for gas and II 2D Ex ib IIIC T120 degrees C IP5X for dust, with certificate FM13ATEX0023X recorded in the PD79X Ex manual. Match the actual radio label and certificate revision to the area assessment. This ib model must not be selected as Zone 0 or Zone 20 equipment. An IP rating alone does not establish hazardous-area suitability.

Use the specified battery and accessories

The manual specifies BL1807-Ex, 1,800 mAh lithium-ion. Charge only in a non-hazardous area with the designated charger, and do not remove the battery or replace accessories in a hazardous area. SM18N4-Ex is the documented PD7 Ex remote speaker microphone. LCY009 is a carrying-case comparison, subject to the exact radio/battery and approval conditions.

Controls, alarms and the equipment offer

The display and full keypad support channel, menu and message handling. GPS, emergency, lone-worker and man-down functions need the relevant programming and response arrangements; they do not provide an independent rescue service. The stated package has no charger, programming service or radio licence. Compare HP795Ex for the newer IIC display/keypad radio, and HP715Ex for its small-display alternative; their BL2105-Ex battery and accessory chain are different.
