Beyond basic communication, you can customize your radio by using the programmable Hytera PD405 key features. These functions, typically assigned to the SK1 and SK2 side keys by your dealer, allow you to optimize performance for any situation.
Scan
The Scan feature lets you monitor multiple channels for activity. Press the programmed Scan key to begin scanning the channels in your preset scan list. A high-pitched tone will sound. The LED will flash orange slowly during the scan. When a transmission is detected, the radio will stop on that channel, and the LED will glow green so you can hear the conversation.
Power Level
You can toggle the radio's transmission power between high and low by pressing the programmed Adjust Power Level key. A high-pitched tone indicates a switch to high power for extending range, while a low-pitched tone signifies a switch to low power to conserve the battery.
Covert Mode
For missions requiring stealth, the programmed Covert Mode key disables all visible and audible alerts, such as the LED indicator and alert tones. If an audio accessory is connected, alerts will still be output through it.
Talk Around
If you are out of range of your repeater but still near other radios, press the programmed Talk Around key. This allows you to bypass the repeater and communicate directly with other radios on your frequency (DMO).
One Touch Call
The One Touch Call feature provides a shortcut for quick communication. Pressing the programmed key allows you to instantly initiate a call or send a message to a predefined group or private contact without having to change channels.
Time-Out Timer (TOT)
This built-in safety feature prevents a channel from being accidentally occupied. If you transmit for longer than the preset time (e.g., 60 seconds), the radio will automatically stop the transmission and beep. You must release the PTT key and wait a short period before transmitting again.
